This week I'm organized enough to paricipate in Mama Kat's writing assignment so I made Nick choose 6 words that he thinks describe me, and I've commented on each of them below. I notice "soulmate" didn't make the list. ;)
stubborn - Ok I'll give him this one... I am pretty stubborn. What can I say, when I'm right I'm right, and when I'm wrong, hell has clearly frozen over. I'm at my most stubborn when we're fighting. Not only do I want to win the argument, I then want to immediately make up. Whether you want to or not. Nick feels that the instant an argument is over, it basically never happened. No need to apologize or talk or hug it out, just forget it and move on. Needles to say my fight philosophy is the polar opposite. I'm more the school of talk it out, admit that you were wrong, apologize sincerely and let's have a quick cuddle to show there's no hard feelings. Nick does not enjoy this. At all. My strategy here is to relentlessly hassle him until he caves and talks it out and makes up with me. This can and frequently does include climbing into his lap and force hugging him. He pouts but I think deep down he likes that we don't leave our fights half-fought. Why end things on a sour note? I'm a firm believer in "don't go to bed mad".
obsessive - Here he's talking about reality TV. To which I plead no contest. Last night I tried to set up my DVR to record The Bachelor, and my DVR box informed me that it could not schedule the recording. Because I already have THREE other shows recording at the same time. This is not the first time something like this has happened to me. Enough said. (Unless anyone knows of any good shows on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays... my weekends are slim pickings somehow. Gotta work on that.)
animal lover - Yes I absolutely am. Right now I have 2 cats. When we get a house in a year or two I'll add a pair of puppies. Nick thinks I'm Crazy Pet Lady. I just think animals enrich your life so much. They bring so much love and laughter into your world. There is no creature on earth so loyal as an animal you've given a happy home to. I will say I'm not much for unconventional pets. If it lives in a cage it's probably not for me. Cuddleability is a pretty key factor for me in pet selection. I'm currently trying to convince Nick to get me a kitten for my birthday in a few weeks. If I have to turn 25, I deserve a snuggly little ball of fluff to ease the transition.
shopaholic - Here I would say, in my defense, that I am mostly a REFORMED shopaholic. Particularly now that we have this damn monthly budget to follow. For example, currently the balance in the "makeup" section of the budget is $3. And that has me in a cold sweat.... but it DOESN'T have me defiantly running to Sephora with my debit card. I am banned from grocery shopping though. There are worse things.
impulsive - Once I decide I want to do/have something, I pretty much want it IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. Newest book by a favorite author? Lowfat Cape Cod chips? Random trip to go see that new movie? Weekend at the beach? I prefer to call it "spontaneous". :)
bookworm - Oh hell yes. Nick's Dad gave me a Barnes and Noble gift certificate for Christmas and I immediately dragged Nick to Barnes and Noble and spent the whole thing on a pile of books (see "impulsive"). I have been in bookworm bliss for the last two weeks. Although I'm getting near the end of the pile...
